Peter Briger is a principal and Co-Chairman of the board of directors of Fortress. A business leader and financial professional based in San Francisco, California, Peter Briger currently serves as the principal and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Fortress Investment Group, a leading global investment management firm. The group caters to both private and institutional investors and oversees assets in excess of $40 billion. Mr. Briger founded and heads the Fortress Credit & Real Estate business, a leading, opportunistic global investor focused primarily on undervalued, distressed and illiquid investments across a broad range of industries, asset classes and geographies. With over 500 employees worldwide, Fortress Credit & Real Estate manages over $26 billion in assets under management.

Prior to joining Fortress in 2002, Peter Briger spent fifteen years at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he became a partner in 1996. At Goldman Sachs, he held the positions of co-head of the Whole Loan Sales and Trading business, co-head of the Fixed Income Principal Investments Group, co-head of the Asian Distressed Debt business, co-head of the Goldman Sachs Special Opportunities (Asia) Fund LLC and co-head of the Asian Real Estate Private Equity business. In addition, he was a member of the Goldman Sachs Global Control and Compliance Committee, a member of the Goldman Sachs Asian Management Committee and a member of the Goldman Sachs Japan Executive Committee.

Outside of his professional activities, Peter Briger is actively involved with a number of philanthropic and community-driven causes. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Tipping Point, Caliber Schools, and the Grace Science Foundation. Mr. Briger is also a member of the Board of Overseers for the University of California San Francisco Foundation and the Board of Advisors for the Center for New American Security. In addition, Mr. Briger is a founding member of the Board of the Peninsula Arts Guild, serves on the Investment Committee of U.S. Soccer, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
